Amazon Customer says:

Battery compartment is EXTREMELY difficult to open!! arms may have gotten damaged a little from all the prying and hassle It was kind of difficult to get the elmo doll out of the box since the hands and feet were tied with plastic wires, but once I got the plastic wires off it was pretty easy to get him out of the box. The next thing that was a con for me was how difficult it was to open the battery compartment. The instructions also say you have to use a specific name brand screw driver called Philips cross head screw driver head.

A Big Hit for a Two Year Old My two year old neice Emma LOVED this toy. I hope it lasts at least a few months because it is going to be hugged 24 hours a day. As soon as Elmo came out of the box, her three year old brother tried to appropriate it and caused a good bit of chaos and anguish….but that’s brothers for you.Two things to know:-There is an on/off/sleep button on the back for those times when you just can’t hear “Elmo needs a hug” one more time.-The most difficult thing about the set up is locating and then using a small Phillips head screwdriver to open up a back compartment to insert the batteries (4 AA’s, not included) while a normally adorable two year old is crying and screaming like a banshee “Elmo!Elmo!Elmo!.”

Nancy says:

Malfunctioned. I saved this for a Christmas gift. I installed the batteries and went to try it out, but it would not work. I went to check the batteries, and they were so hot they burned my finger. It took less than a minute for them to get that hot.
