Let’s Rock Elmo

“La la la la, Elmo’s song. La la la la, Elmo’s song…”

Remember Elmo, the inquisitive red bundle of energy from Sesame Street which taught most of us how to say the alphabet and the sound each letter makes? How about singing along with Elmo? Most of us did, and it brings back a lot of childhood memories. Fast forward a few years to 1996. People (mostly parents) went gaga over Tickle Me Elmo – scratches and bruises included. Parents were frantically trying to gobble up every Tickle Me Elmo toy on the display shelves. Fast forward to 2011. Elmo is ready to rock the world’s foundations once more. Enter Let’s Rock Elmo, Tyco Preschool’s newest offering for 2011.

Rocking and learning…Elmo style!

Let’s Rock Elmo features Elmo wearing a black rocker t-shirt, complete with a microphone and two instruments – a tambourine and a drum set. Children can watch Elmo sing and play music with the instruments. To add interactivity, it can sense what instrument it is holding and plays a corresponding tune. In addition, children can play the instruments themselves because each instrument is designed for little toddler hands.

Elmo can sing and play! So can you!

Another amazing feature is that Elmo can interact with other Let’s Rock instruments like the Let’s Rock Cookie Monster Keyboard, Let’s Rock Elmo Guitar, and the Let’s Rock Grover Microphone. Once Elmo recognizes the instrument a child is playing it will also play a special tune. The “ABC Song” plays on the keyboard with matching lights on the keys. Meanwhile, the “Elmo’s World Song” plays on the guitar. Elmo can also sing along when a child sings on the microphone.

Interactivity rocks

In a world where the latest toys tend to be high tech but impersonal, Let’s Rock Elmo lets children play, interact, and socialize at the same time. Kids love to hear music, tinker with gadgets, and play with friends, so why not combine all three and put it all together inside the lovable Elmo? Each Let’s Rock instrument can interact with each other, making it possible for children to form little bands and have a rocking good time with Elmo. Music forms bonds. Music brings people together, children included.

As children sing, play, and dance with Elmo, it contributes to their sense of accomplishment, which in turn can boost their confidence and self-esteem. In a world where toys with no educational value at all shows up in every corner, Let’s Rock Elmo helps children by improving their motor skills, hand and eye coordination, and musical abilities.

Safety rocks too!

On the safety side, the toy does not have any choking hazards, making it safe for small children. Children can easily grab the instruments since these toys were designed for small toddler hands. The plush doll itself is very durable under normal playing conditions.

Let’s Rock Elmo runs on six (6) AA batteries and is recommended for children to 4 years. However, some older children (and adults) would disagree on the age restriction. Well, everybody loves Elmo right?
